The transducer sends out sound waves that bounce off your baby’s body and are picked up again by the transducer. The sound waves are then translated into an image on a screen.

At this stage, your baby will look like a little blob with a flickering heartbeat. You may also be able to see a yolk sac, which provides nourishment to the baby until the placenta is fully formed.
